A new shade of Memphis blue

By Jay Smallat 9:13 am 2/22/2006

Because of all the NAA CONNECTIONS shuffling (conference ends today), I'm late acknowledging another significant Scripps site redesign.

Corporate and site staffs put a smart new face on commercialappeal.com, site of The Commercial Appeal in Memphis, just yesterday.

Building on the award-winning frameworks of knoxnews.com and TCPalm.com, this design opens new flexibility for daily presentation of news headlines, special content and marketing promotions.

The usual gang of corporate suspects, including Herb Himes, Mike Takata, Mark McIntyre and Rich Lacy, worked with Memphis site teams coordinated by Eric Janssen. Very nice work, folks!

Tried to look at the site. Have to register to see anything.

Can't even read an AP story without registering?

Are these guys for real? Are you touting the same site I just looked at?

Joe,

You are no doubt familiar with content access registration on many local news sites. Scripps does it too -- has for a couple of years now.

We did not change the registration process when we redesigned commercialappeal.com.

We're always reviewing it, though, and I assume I can count on your "no" vote. ;-)

SID says...

When you're through with the site, please, 'Be Kind. Rewind!'
